Floating Balance Escapement Regulation Tips:
Regulation:
-A movement with a sluggish balance assembly cannot be properly regulated.
Adjusting the spring-loaded weights on the inner track of the balance wheel to attain Regulation.
-The rates of these floating balance assemblies can be adjusted with an electronic timer. Most of these balances run at 9000 or 10800 vibrations per hour, depending on the model.
Cleaning tips:
-There are conflicting opinions with whether or not to dip clean this type of balance. So with an overhaul it must be cleaned or replaced.
-For cleaning, remove the units from the plate but do not disassemble it. Attach it to a dip wire and immerse into a [non-water type] clock cleaning and rinsing solution.
-Dry thoroughly over gently blown, warm air or clock dehumidifier. It is essential that the balance tube is thoroughly dry of all cleaning residues after the process. Otherwise, the residue will create friction and impede the motion of the balance.
OIL:
-Do not oil.
-If oiled it will retard the motion.
End.
